Six Tips On Making A Small Bathroom Look Spacious

Your bathroom is your relief center. Usually town houses and apartments do not have more than a single bathroom or two. Like the rest of your house you sure want it to look good. To make it look striking at the very first glance, add Fabric shower curtains that are both colorful and inspiring in their designs. If you have many family members or guests using the same washroom, maintaining it soon becomes a pain. Bathroom maintenance especially in Shower curtain rods, water pipes and cabinet area is really significant for your bathroom to look good and well maintained.

However, maintaining your washroom might not be your current dilemma. Due to the usually small sized houses, the bathrooms result to be small too. However, by just changing some areas, you can make your restroom appear large.

• The primary thing you need to focus on is the walls and ceiling of your washroom. The solution is to select a less colorful shade to paint your walls. Also, have your ceiling colored white. If you are using wallpapers for your walls, ensure that they are not patterned with very dark colors. The best ones will be having a white base with small light colored pattern.

• The next area is the flooring. Again opt for less colorful shades for tiles to make the bathroom look bigger. It is better to use medium sized six to eight inch ceramic tiles, not larger than that. Smaller tiles will make your washroom look even smaller and so would very big tiles. If you do not wish to alter your dark colored tiles, use a light colored rug to put up on the floor so that it covers most of the floor.

• On the walls you may wish to use full length mirrors that give you a roomy look as soon as you step in. Also the mirrors will enhance the lighting of your washroom, providing reflections that make the restroom exceptionally large. rather than looking like the walls are closing in on you, they will make the washroom look larger and roomy.

• Lighting also has a significant role in making your bathroom look spacious. Use wall scones, mirror lighting and energy efficient bulbs whatever is most appropriate for you. CFL light bulbs are the best choice for this reason. As they provide light that is shiny enough to make your washroom look roomy. Allow sunlight to come as well in daylight hours. Get rid of curtains from the windows for this reason.

• Fixtures are the most initial thing you should consider. For the tub, the total area must not be more than 60”×32”. Use a lower walled bath tub so that it covers lesser area. As for the sink, use the pedestal type. Omit the cabinets beneath. Also remove other extra cabinets all around your restroom. Use glass shelves to substitute the cabinets. Also remove extra toiletries lying on the floor. Build up a cabinet to place in towels and other stuff inside it.

• Instead of a usual door that opens sideways, use a sliding door. These will reduce the area engaged when the door is opened. You do not have to use really costly material to get it done. Instead of a wooden door, use any other less heavier material that makes the sliding of the door easier for all members of the family.

That’s a great tip about the mirrors and the lighting. My first apartment had a really small bathroom and those are the 2 things I focused on to open it up. I also took the wall paper down and opted for a neutral beige paint.
